Fiat Linea Classic Design

The exterior of Fiat Linea Classic gives a stylish and sporty feel with a large hood and a properly designed front nose. Also, the chrome finishing is removed from the parts where it was present earlier. It has the human-eye shaped automatic dual-parabola headlamps which automatically turns off and on with respect to the intensity of light outside and even remains on for some programmable time after turning off the sedan, a stylish front grille with silver slats having the regular styled company’s badge, a unique front bonnet, body colored bumper with the air dam in same style as front grille and surrounded by a pair of sporty fog lamps, huge front windshield with rain-sensing wipers, body colored door handles, electrically adjustable body colored ORVMs, simple body side mouldings, 14-inch steel wheels with full caps, bright and sporty tail lamp slots which also consists of the rear fog lamps, compact trunk gate with the boot lid featuring Linea Classic badging, a sporty exhaust pipe and a slanted rear windshield having defogger with timer.

This beautiful sedan has a length of 4560mm, a height of 1487mm and a width of 1730mm as its dimensions and has a large wheelbase of 2603mm for a better ride quality. It has a good ground clearance of 185mm for a bump-free ride and a minimum turning radius of 5.4m for easy cruising in tight parking spots and in city traffic. It has a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres and a curb weight of 1291kgs.

Fiat Linea Classic Cabin

The inside of the Classic is true to the name it carries. The styling is sober with a nice solid touch to all the switches and toggles. Cost cutting implies you do not get much in terms of kit here. You get a CD changer with four speakers, but no AUX/BlueTooth/USB. There are power windows on all four sides, but the driver can control only the front two from his end. Two glove boxes add a lot of convenience. The air conditioner is quiet effective and it really chills the cabin. The thing that we love most is the solid sturdy feel of the cabin. Everything is put together well and will last through ages. The seats are supportive but lack comfort. We believe long drives in these seats could get tiring. The steering is perfectly sized and weighed. However, a leather wrap would have been a welcome touch.

The Linea Classic is actually well equipped when you consider the list price of the car. Linea Classic’s longest wheelbase in the segment implies that there is ample space in the entire cabin. The only issue is headroom at the rear for taller passengers, which is not adequate. The boot space is very considerate with 500 litre capacity. For more info on Fiat Linea Classic  check Pasear-w

Fiat Linea Classic Performance

The Fiat Linea Linea Classic specifications feature the ever reliable 1248cc, 4-cylinder engine delivering power of 76PS at 4000rpmand Torque of 197Nm at 1750rpm.The petrol version feature 1368 4-Cylinder engine delivering power of 90PS at 600rpm and Torque of 115Nm at 4500rpm. In all Fiat Linea Classic models, 5-speed manual transmission is used as a standard.

The variant that we are driving has a 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine that produces 75bhp of maximum power and a healthy 197Nm of peak torque at a low 1750rpm. The petrol variant on offer has a 1.4 litre Fire unit that pumps out 89bhp of power and 115Nm of peak torque. Both these engines are mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The diesel variant is the pick here. It has a bagful of torque and combined with that quick shifting transmission, is a treat to drive. There is a slight lag before the turbo spools up, but then it has a lot of grunt to put many others in the segment to shame. Acceleration numbers are not scorching, but adequate to make the car exciting. We noted a good 160kmph on the highway, with still more in reserve.

Fiat Linea Classic Riding

The handling is perhaps the best bit about the Linea Classic. The steering is direct and tells you exactly what the front wheels are up to. Take it out for a spirited drive and you will come back with a fairly large smile plastered on your face. The ride quality is again very impressive. As it is a big sedan with 2603mm of wheelbase, and it feels big to drive as well. It stays planted to the tarmac on high speeds and ride quality evens out bumps for occupants. The suspension has been carefully adjusted for Indian roads and all you hear is a thud when you drive over a pothole. The clutch does get annoyingly jerky at low speeds, but it is a small price to pay for all the other advantages. Book Fiat Linea Classic Test Drive.

Fiat Linea Hatchback First Drive & Performance

Fiat Linea Overview

Fiat knows very well how to make desirable cars, case in point being the Linea itself. First launched in India in 2009, the Linea hasn’t managed to sell in good numbers owing to poor sales and service offered by its JV partner Tata Motors. Fiat has now gone independent, going the whole mile of setting up its own dealership network with more than 100 outlets across India. This has surely got Fiat in the game and now with the facelifted Linea, the company expects to make a success of its C-segment sedan. Global production of the Linea facelift commenced in April 2012 and it has taken Fiat a whole 23 months to get the car to India. We get behind the wheel of the 2017 Fiat Linea to gauge the changes and if they make a big difference to this Italian sedan. View offers on Fiat Cars from Fiat dealers in Hyderabad at Autozhop

Fiat Linea Exterior

The facelifted Linea looks updated but it still has the same neat and clean proportions which definitely tells you of its classy and premium nature.

Talking about the changes the big grille at the front of the car which was there from the very beginning has been changed and it now has a two slat grille which looks more sober, the air dam too looks bigger and it also has been highlighted with chrome strips which has made the front face of the car more premium. The rest of the front remained same and you will instantly recognize it as the Linea by its huge curved headlamps and a sloping bonnet. You won’t find much of a difference at the side of the car except the noticeable new alloy wheels and side rear view mirrors which gets new turn indicators.

Walk towards the rear and you will notice that the rear bumper has also been adorned with a chrome strip just like its front and a black faux diffuser which has added a tougher look to the car. The number plate now finds its place in the boot lid which is another big change that we noticed at the rear of the car.I already mentioned earlier that the Linea has always been one of the best looking cars that you will find in this segment, now with all these above mentioned changes it has become more matured and looks even more premium and will surely appeal to a large section of crowd.

Fiat Linea Interior

So the Fiat Linea is a beautiful car from outside. The interiors of the 2012 Fiat Linea have been revived too.The 2012 Linea comes with brighter dual tone interiors. The Emotion pack gets the premium leather treatment. It has all the sophistication needed in C+ a luxurious sedan.Part of the new changes in the Dynamic variant is the height adjustable driver seat. The front row seating is comfortable. The beige colored seats are very nicely tailored, though it can be an issue with the kids spilling things on it. The front legroom is good. Everything remains similar as compared to the earlier version except the rear seats, which don’t drop down any longer.Coming to the rear section of the car, the headroom and the legroom are not strong points of it. Taller passengers will have an issue adjusting themselves in the rear seats. The steering wheel on the dynamic is tilt adjustable and also features media and other controls to access the Bluetooth integrated phone feature, which pairs with the phone effortlessly. The instrumental panel is very neat and has the speedometer and the odometer inside chrome rings.

The information display on the instrumental panel shows information about the trip reading, Fuel efficiency, temperature and the distance to empty fuel tank. In addition to this, it also shows the last call made, phonebook and also has a message reader. One can also access the in-car settings by pressing a button underneath the right side of the steering column. The central panel has an integrated music system with 6 speakers. The fit and finish quality is typically Fiat so no complaining on that one. The ebony black grainy dashboard is grand with chrome inserts running across it.

In storage options, the glove box door doubles as the storage area too. Also, in the glove box you will find the peculiarly located USB connectivity option. Then there are 2 glass holders near the transmission stick. The door pockets are just an excuse and won’t hold anything substantial in it. There is a small utility box under the front seat armrest. The rear passengers get a drop down armrest attached to it is pull-out cup holders with some intermediate space. The boot space allotted in the Fiat Linea is a generous 500 litres, sounds good for the weekend trips.

Fiat Linea Transmission

There are no changes to the engines of the Fiat Linea which continue to offer the same output as before. The facelifted model is available only with the 1.3-litre Mulitjet diesel and 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engines. Neither powerplants need any introduction as we all are very familiar with them. The 1.4-litre T-Jet mill outputs 114 PS of peak power at 5000 RPM and 207 Nm of peak torque at 2200 RPM. This turbocharged heart makes the Linea a whole lot of fun to drive and can put an instant smile on your face anytime, all the time. Once you whizz past the turbo lag, you are greeted by a strong mid-range where the Linea simply moves ahead with gusto only to be bogged down past 5500 RPM as the top-end of this mill isn’t very strong. Still city drivability is excellent and the T-Jet motor is among the best petrol engines in its class.

Coming to the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine which outputs 93 PS of power and 209 Nm of torque, you get decent performance although more is expected at this price point. This small capacity diesel motor has a good mid-range punch and once past the turbo lag, you get going quickly. The gearing is on the taller side and you can whizz past 100 km/hr in third gear itself. Our VBOX run shows that 0-100 km/hr takes 16 seconds which is slower than other cars in this segment. Fiat should really have plonked in a bigger motor in the Linea as most cars at this price point output above 100 BHP of power. Both petrol and diesel motor use a 5-speed gearbox and gear shifts aren’t the smoothest around with a hint of rubbery feel. The clutch too has a lot of play but is light. Owing to the heavy weight of the Linea, neither the petrol nor the diesel Linea boast of class leading fuel efficiency figures. Expect 10 km/l in the T-Jet and 14 km/l in the Multijet in real world driving conditions.Check for Fiat Linea in inlnk.in

Fiat Linea Driving

Fiat hasn’t made any mechanical changes to the Linea so driving dynamics are more or less the same as before. When we first drove the Linea in 2009, we instantly fell in love with it, being thoroughly impressed by its sharp handling characteristics. While Fiat has continued with the hydraulic power steering, the Linea (2012 onwards) hasn’t given the same feel to the driver as before, which is largely because the vehicle has had an increase in ground clearance to 190 mm. This has certainly ruined the sharp dynamics of the car and although it still is quite fun to pilot through a set of corners, it doesn’t give you the same surefooted feel as before.

The steering too lacks the razor sharp precision you would expect from a hydraulic unit but the wide tyres give plenty of grip even while cornering really hard. However high speed stability isn’t as good as before (pre-2012) although the Linea is relatively poised at expressway speeds. Braking performance is good and so is the NVH levels inside the cabin. What is stupendous though is the ride quality, the Linea’s suspension absorbing everything in its path with authority and not transferring any bump to the occupants. The weight of the car can be felt though which is both a good and bad thing.

Fiat Linea Safety

Fiat Linea is blessed with a number of safety features, which make it a reliable option to drive. Advancements like engine immobilizer with rolling code ensure that no outsider slips inside the car without the permission of the driver/occupants. Linea has a special fire prevention system that ensures that all the passengers are safely removed out of the car in case of fire. Other safety features of Linea include double crank prevention system, driver seat belt warning light, ABS and brake assist.Along with a decent output, the Linea is also blessed with a decent braking mechanism. The T-Jet Active version is featured with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which ensures a smooth braking and no skidding even at high speeds. Along with, the proficient suspension system of this car ensures that it remains stable and balanced even in non-favorable driving conditions.

Priced quite competitively the facelifted Linea is surely a car worth buying
